Programs that have closed

These still appear in older articles and contractor ads. None accept new applications.

  • Canada Greener Homes Grant: Closed; the final document deadline was December 31, 2025. Source
  • Canada Greener Homes Loan: Stopped taking new applications on October 1, 2025. Source
  • Standard CleanBC gas-to-heat-pump rebate (not income-qualified, outside the North): Ended April 11, 2025. Source

Stacking rules, briefly

  • One heating rebate per system. FortisBC’s dual fuel rebate can’t be combined with other FortisBC, provincial or federal funding for that system.
  • Income-qualified replaces standard. It doesn’t add on top for the same upgrade.
  • Bonuses add. FortisBC pays $300 ($350 income-qualified) when you complete a second qualifying upgrade. Ventilation doesn’t count toward the bonus.
  • Different upgrades stack. Windows, insulation and bathroom fans each have their own rebate.
  • Never more than you paid. A rebate can’t exceed the paid cost on the invoice.

How ROMA helps with the BC rebate programs

ROMA has replaced gas furnaces, boilers and water heaters in Greater Vancouver homes since 1999, from Vancouver Specials with basement suites to heritage houses on radiators. When you call about the BC rebate programs, a licensed technician starts with the facts that decide eligibility: the age on the rating plate, what fuel heats the house, whether it’s your primary home, and whether the household may be income-qualified.

You get a plain answer about which rebate fits and what it should pay, and a free, flat-rate estimate on qualifying equipment if you want one. Where a program needs an HPCN-listed contractor, we show you how to check any installer on the HPCN directory before you book. Phone (604) 704-0300 or email info@romaheating.ca.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the biggest rebate for a BC home right now?
For most gas-heated homes, FortisBC’s income-qualified dual fuel rebate at up to $8,000. For some income-qualified heat pump projects, the CleanBC Energy Savings Program may pay more, so ask an Energy Coach.
Is the Canada Greener Homes Grant still open?
No. The grant closed (final documents were due December 31, 2025) and the loan stopped accepting applications on October 1, 2025.
How often do BC rebates change?
Several times a year. In 2026, CleanBC amounts changed on July 6 and FortisBC re-introduced dual fuel and income-qualified rebates on October 15.
